Rajouri, May 15,2026- In a remarkable display of public participation and social commitment, women living in the Line of Control (LoC) areas of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir have pledged not to purchase gold for one year in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal.
The initiative has gained momentum across several border villages, where women have come together to support the Prime Minister’s message aimed at encouraging economic discipline, self-reliance, and responsible social behaviour. Alongside the pledge, local women have also launched an extensive door-to-door awareness campaign to ensure that the Prime Minister’s seven public appeals reach every household in the region.
Residents said the campaign reflects the spirit of unity and active citizen participation in border areas. Women volunteers are visiting homes, interacting with families, and spreading awareness about the importance of collective responsibility and community development.
The initiative has received appreciation from local residents and community leaders, who described it as a significant step towards strengthening social awareness and public engagement in remote LoC areas. Many participants stated that the campaign demonstrates the growing role of women in driving positive change and mobilising society at the grassroots level.
The awareness drive is also being viewed as a symbol of patriotism and solidarity among people living in border regions, who continue to contribute actively to national campaigns and public welfare initiatives.
Officials and locals alike believe that such people-led movements help in fostering social harmony, awareness, and community empowerment across the region.
