Rajouri launches Gogri Topi training to empower rural women

Rajouri, April 10,2026- In a significant step towards women’s empowerment and cultural preservation, the District Administration Rajouri has launched a Gogri Topi Training Centre aimed at supporting unemployed women from remote areas such as Badhal and Darhal.

The initiative focuses on reviving the traditional craft of Gogri cap making, while simultaneously equipping women with practical skills for self-employment and financial independence.

Under a structured three-month training programme, participants are being trained in designing and stitching traditional Gogri caps—an important part of the region’s cultural identity. The programme not only provides hands-on skill development but also opens avenues for income generation, especially for women in far-flung areas with limited employment opportunities.

Officials stated that the training centre is being run under the flagship Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme, ensuring that all necessary materials and resources are provided free of cost to the trainees. This removes financial barriers and encourages greater participation among women.

The initiative has been widely appreciated by locals, who see it as a dual effort to empower women economically and preserve traditional craftsmanship. Participants expressed gratitude to the administration, saying the programme has given them hope for a more secure and self-reliant future.

By blending skill development with cultural heritage, the District Administration Rajouri’s initiative stands as a model for sustainable rural empowerment, ensuring that age-old traditions like Gogri cap making continue to thrive in modern times.
