Srinagar, March 19, 2026- Heavy rainfall lashed Srinagar and other major districts across the Kashmir Valley on Thursday, bringing relief from dry conditions but causing a drop in temperatures.
Srinagar recorded a low of 5.8°C, while Gulmarg remained the coldest at minus 1.4°C, according to meteorological reports. Other parts of the valley also witnessed widespread showers, accompanied by gusty winds.
Officials advised residents to take necessary precautions as the wet weather could lead to slippery roads and localized waterlogging in low-lying areas. Tourism and transport sectors, particularly in hill stations, were impacted due to rain and fog.
Meteorologists have predicted intermittent rain in Srinagar and surrounding districts over the next 24–48 hours, while temperatures are expected to remain below normal for this time of year.
The rainy spell comes as a respite for agriculture in the valley, helping replenish water levels in streams and reservoirs.
