Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) Kendras in Jammu & Kashmir’s Doda region are significantly reducing healthcare costs, offering medicines at prices 50–90% lower than branded equivalents. Residents report substantial savings, with some medications now costing ₹150–₹200 instead of ₹500, and others reduced from ₹2,000–₹3,000 to more affordable rates. This initiative ensures access to quality generic medicines, benefiting the economically disadvantaged and enhancing public health outcomes. Earlier we used to purchase a leaf of medicine for Rs 500. Now at Jan Aushadhi Kendra we can get the same for Rs 150-Rs 200, said a man in Jammu & Kashmir’s Doda region. This is a huge benefit for us, specially poor people. For this initiative, I am extremely grateful to the Pradhan Mantri scheme for availing medicines at a lesser price. Another lady in Doda said that her medicines cost her Rs 2000-Rs 3000 from private shops but now she gets the same at reduced price. This scheme is good for us, the lady said happily. Another man said how the same medicine priced at Rs 500 you can get here at Rs 200-Rs 250. And the medicines are good. This helps the poor people a lot. Earlier, poor people used to die in dearth of purchasing costly medicines. Now what I purchased for Rs 1000 I am getting at Rs 200-Rs 300 at these Jan Aushadhi Kendras, said another man in Doda region of Jammu & Kashmir. So people should come here to purchase medicines.
