Putin called for swift justice against the perpetrators and their backers, reinforcing Russia’s unwavering support for India’s battle against terrorism.
The attack, carried out by four heavily armed terrorists, including two from Pakistan, targeted civilians in the scenic Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam. The assailants selectively attacked after verifying victims’ religious identities, sparking outrage across India. “This barbaric act demands that those responsible face the full force of justice,” Putin reportedly told Modi, according to sources close to the discussion.
The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed the call stating, “President Putin expressed deep condolences for the Pahalgam tragedy and reaffirmed Russia’s solidarity with India in combating terrorism.” The conversation, initiated by Moscow, underscored the deep India-Russia bond, with both leaders vowing to strengthen their Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.
