Purple Fest 2025: J&K LG Commits to 100% Unique ID Card Coverage & Special Camps for Divyangjan. It is not only a matter of pride but also joy for me to be present amongst you on the occasion of Purple Fest, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha attending the Purple Fest Delhi 2025. Purple Fest is not just a festival but a movement aimed at promoting awareness, inclusion and empowerment of differently-abled people in entire Jammu and Kashmir. On March 21, the Purple Fest was started in New Delhi by the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu. The President also honoured all such individuals and institutions who, by overcoming physical obstacles and winning all challenges, have not only achieved excellence in various fields but also increased the honour of the country. I welcome all Divyanjans and institutions to Raj Bhawan Jammu Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor of J&K Shri Manoj Sinha said. And I reiterate the commitment of the Jammu and Kashmir Administration in making Jammu and Kashmir a more accessible and inclusive state. Our culture has always emphasised that physically challenged people are not handicapped but have some special powers from God. And therefore, first of all our Prime Minister Narendra Modi removed the word handicapped and decided to to use the word Divyaang. This one incident has played an important role in changing the thinking of the society. And I can say that in the last four-five years, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has taken many commendable initiatives. I am happy that the administration has worked with dedication for the empowerment of Divyaangan. And many initiatives have been taken to ensure the dignity, rights and welfare of persons with disabilities, the Lieutenant Governor stated. I believe that any government or administration should prioritise to make people with disabilities participate in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. And a sincere effort must be made to put it into action. I and my friends have always tried to understand the inner strength and emotions of people with disabilities by rising above all sections of society. And for this, efforts have been made through many important programmes of awareness and public participation. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ensured that the challenges faced by the differently abled are addressed in a professional manner. In Jammu and Kashmir too, many steps have been taken for the empowerment of the disabled people and many decisions have been taken. In 2022, all departments of Jammu and Kashmir established Grievance Cell Mechanism. District level committee was constituted in June 2023 to address local problems of Divyaangs at local level. Unique Disability ID project was also started under the direction of Government of India. I am happy that the Divyang leaders Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar in Jammu Kashmir have proved that they are not helpless and are not dependent on others. They have increased the prestige not only in Jammu and Kashmir but in the entire country. They have given new energy to the whole society. And we hope that many Sheetals and many Rakeshes emerge from among you who will bring glory to Jammu and Kashmir and the country. They have spread the fame of the country on the international platform. They also got the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister; today the whole country is watching them. In this way, Sheetal has inspired all the youth through her survival. And I believe, all our comrades can face any challenge bravely, LG added. I pray to Mata Vaishno Devi for your bright future. And I express my special gratitude to the organisers, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha.
