Jawed, a doctor stationed at a Jan Aushadhi Kendra in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir says, the Prime Minister Jan Aushadhi project was launched in 2008. The scheme aims to provide quality medicines at affordable prices. At this centre in Pulwama, we get medicines at cheaper prices here than the market rates, said Haji Gulam Mandi, a patient appealing to people to buy medicines here. Another elderly patient, Muhammad Abduh Dar said, everyone should buy medicines from here as we get at subsidised rates. The Aushadhi centre at Pulwama does a sale of 9,000 to 10,000 tablets per day. The centre also conducts awareness programmes to make people more aware.
