Pulwama Marks Yoga Day with Mass Participation, Echoes ‘One Earth, One Health’

On June 21, Pulwama joined the global celebration of the 11th International Yoga Day with vibrant enthusiasm and large-scale public participation. The event, held at multiple venues across the district, echoed the spirit of unity, wellness, and harmony with nature. Under this year’s guiding theme — “One Earth, One Health” — hundreds of participants from all walks of life came together to embrace yoga as a powerful tool for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. The district administration, in collaboration with the Department of AYUSH and local educational institutions, meticulously organised yoga sessions in schools, public parks, and community halls. From students and teachers to health workers and civil society members, the event witnessed a heartening turnout, reflecting Pulwama’s growing commitment to a healthier and more balanced lifestyle. The theme “One Earth, One Health” resonated deeply in the serene natural setting of South Kashmir. It emphasized the intrinsic connection between individual well-being and planetary health — advocating for sustainable living, mindful practices, and collective responsibility towards nature. Yoga, in this context, served not just as a fitness regimen but as a philosophy of life that aligns human health with ecological balance. Speakers at the event highlighted yoga’s ancient roots in Indian tradition and its growing relevance in a post-pandemic world. They encouraged citizens to incorporate yoga into their daily routines to build resilience, reduce stress, and enhance overall quality of life. Live demonstrations, guided sessions, and motivational addresses added both depth and dynamism to the celebrations. Pulwama’s observance of International Yoga Day was not merely a ceremonial occasion but a public reaffirmation of wellness as a shared cultural and civic value. The successful conduct of the event also symbolized the district’s peaceful aspirations and its readiness to lead in progressive health initiatives. As the sun rose on the longest day of the year, the collective breath and posture of Pulwama’s people echoed a timeless truth — that harmony within leads to harmony with the world.
