Principal Secretary APD reviews functioning of Animal & Sheep Husbandry departments in Jammu division

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 15: Principal Secretary, Agriculture Production, Shailendra Kumar, today had a comprehensive review of functioning of Animal and Sheep Husbandry departments in Jammu division.
The Principal Secretary assessed progress on major schemes/programmes of both the departments during a meeting held at Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Talab Tillo, Jammu.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Agriculture Production Department including Mission Director HADP/JKCIP, J&K, Rahul Yadav, Director Planning, Hemkant Parashar, Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Dr. Waheeda Parveen, Director Sheep Husbandry Jammu, Dr.Syed Moin-Ul-Haq, the district officers of Animal/Sheep Husbandry of Jammu division as well as the technical Officers of the department (ASH&F and HADP).
During the meeting, the Principal Secretary reviewed the physical and financial progress on several important schemes including the UT flagship Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) besides Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) such as Rashtriya Gokul Mission, National Livestock Mission, Assistance to States for Control of Animal Diseases (ASCAD), status of Mobile Veterinary Units (MVUs). He laid focus on expediting the implementation of these schemes by ensuring timely fund allocation as well as to address challenges in the effective implementation of these schemes.
The Principal Secretary underscored the importance of timely achieving the set targets. He asked the officers to sanction the pending applications under the different components of all HADP projects at the earliest. He further asked the officers to duly submit all the credit linked subsidy cases of beneficiaries lying in banks to be taken up during forthcoming meeting in this regard for their prompt disposal.
The Principal Secretary emphasized on maximizing the utilisation of opportunities and financial assistances available under several entrepreneurship development initiatives/schemes for betterment of farming community. He encouraged lesser performing districts to enhance their efforts so that the set targets are achieved successfully in the remaining period of this financial year.
The Principal Secretary also reviewed the flagship scheme NADCP. He asked the officers to boost up vaccinations with an aim to achieve control and subsequent eradication of serious diseases affecting cattle, buffaloes, sheep and goats through regular vaccinations.
The Principal Secretary was also apprised of the status of import of elite livestock from Australia and Canada to give boost to breed improvement in local cattle/buffalo and sheep for improving the productivity.
During the review of infrastructure of the offices, the Principal Secretary passed the directions to submit the requirement related to equipping the offices upto block levels with computers, printers and internet facility at the earliest.
