Shinon Meeras, the Shina Cultural Centre was inaugurated in Gurez by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha. LG said Cultural Center and Unions are not only the history of the people, but also the energy of the present and a sign of the bright future. Living in the lap of nature for thousands of years, the Dard-Shin tribal group has a very rich history. And I have no hesitation in saying that the foundation of Jammu and Kashmir and culture is tied to the Dard-Shin community. And they did so not just by numerical strength but by spiritual prosperity, social customs, and simple lifestyle. Society has been provided with their philosophy of harmony, development and progress. The language of Dard-Shin community settled on the waves of Kishanganga river. Despite the changing environment of the world, it has taught respect for natural life and love for nature which can secure the future to come. Habba Khatoon peak and Habba Khatoon spring are the energies of Gurez and the tribal community and their blessings too. Famous by the name of Bulbule Kashmir, Habaa Khatoon had written that it will go till the mouth of flowing rivers. balkhati bahti nadiyon ke muhane tak jaongi main vinti ardas karti yahan wahan dolungi maiin tumhe dhoondte hue Around 13% of Kashmir’s population is tribal community. They had to wait for their rights for a long time, LG said. Today I can say that under the leadership of Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, the rights that the tribal community got across the country they got in Jammu and Kashmir as well. They have become a progressive society. Every effort is being made to ensure that they also get the full benefit of development, LG said.
