BANDIPORA, JUNE 07: ICAR-CPRI, Shimla and ICAR-CITH Srinagar in collaboration with KVK Gurez of SKUAST Kashmir organised Potato Seed Distribution programme at Izmarg Station of SKUAST Kashmir.
The programme organised under Tribal Sub Plan was attended by morethan 85 farmers and farm women from Bagtore block of Gurez valley.
During the programme farmers were sensitized about the quality seed production and multiplication in potatoes.
Dr Bilal Ahmad Bhat Head KVK-Gurez highlighted the importance of quality potato seed production under the Gurez conditions.
Dr Anil Sharma Head ICAR-CPRI-RS Jalandhar made farmers acquainted with the importance of quality seed production of potato varieties of ICAR-CPRI.
Dr Sajad-un Nabi, Scientist ICAR-CITH, Srinagar highlighted the importance of disease management in potatoes for quality seed production and deliberated on the importance of bio-control measuring for disease management of Potato and other crops cultivated in this organic Himalayan valley.
At the end of the program quality potato seed (Breeder Seed) was distributed amongst the selected farmers for the purpose of Seed Production along with tarpaulin sheets.
