POONCH, JULY 29: The District Administration Poonch today ceremoniously flagged off a fresh batch of pilgrims headed for the sacred Budha Amarnath Mandir, located in the serene town of Mandi, Poonch district. The yatra began from the district headquarters amid chants of devotion and with full logistical, medical, and security arrangements in place.
Senior officials, including the Deputy Commissioner Poonch, local police officers, and representatives from the Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, were present during the flag-off event. Authorities offered their blessings and good wishes to the yatris and urged them to uphold the spiritual and peaceful spirit of the pilgrimage.
The Budha Amarnath Yatra, considered a significant religious event in Jammu and Kashmir, draws devotees from across India, especially from Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh. It is seen as a symbol of communal harmony, as both locals and administration actively participate in supporting the yatra each year.
To ensure the safety and convenience of the pilgrims, the administration has arranged round-the-clock medical services, transportation, refreshment stalls, and accommodation facilities along the route. Multi-tier security arrangements have also been deployed by J&K Police and paramilitary forces.
Local volunteers, NGOs, and religious organizations have also set up langars and help desks to aid the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
Officials reiterated that the Budha Amarnath Yatra reflects the region’s spiritual richness, cultural inclusivity, and commitment to peace and brotherhood.
