Jammu & Kashmir,November 30,2025: During the 128th episode of his radio programme #MannKiBaat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the unique RambanSulai honey produced in the hilly regions of Jammu and Kashmir. This honey, derived from wild basil (sulai) flowers, is distinctive for its white colour and aromatic flavour.
RambanSulai honey has earned a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, recognising its unique origin and traditional production methods. PM Modi emphasised the significance of such local products in promoting regional agriculture, rural livelihoods, and traditional knowledge.
The honey is harvested by local farmers and beekeepers in Ramban district and surrounding areas, where the wild basil grows abundantly in the hills. Its GI tag not only protects the authenticity of the product but also boosts the market value and global recognition of this specialty honey.
Experts note that RambanSulai honey has antioxidant properties and is prized for its medicinal and nutritional benefits, making it a sought-after product in both domestic and international markets. The Prime Minister’s mention in #MannKiBaat aims to encourage local entrepreneurship and promotion of indigenous products from Jammu & Kashmir.
