Patnitop, June 1,2026- The sixth edition of the Patnitop Marathon, which also marked the region’s first high-altitude ultra-marathon, witnessed enthusiastic participation from runners aged 18 to 75 years, highlighting the growing culture of fitness and endurance sports in Jammu and Kashmir.
Set against the scenic backdrop of the Patnitop hills, the marathon brought together athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and adventure seekers who tested their stamina and determination on the challenging high-altitude course. Participants from various age groups demonstrated remarkable endurance, making the event a celebration of health, perseverance, and sporting spirit.
The marathon was organised by IKA Sports & Events in collaboration with the Patnitop Development Authority (PDA), the Department of Tourism, and the Patnitop Hoteliers Association. The event aimed to promote sports tourism, encourage healthy lifestyles, and showcase Patnitop as a premier destination for adventure and endurance events.
Organisers said the marathon’s success reflects the increasing popularity of long-distance running and outdoor sporting activities in the Union Territory. The event also provided a platform for athletes to experience the unique challenge of competing at higher altitudes while enjoying the natural beauty of Patnitop.
The marathon not only celebrated athletic excellence but also contributed to tourism promotion and local economic activity, attracting visitors and participants from different regions.
