KISHTWAR, NOVEMBER 26: In a proactive effort to raise public awareness about the Summary Revision of the Panchayat Electoral Roll, the District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) and Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, on Tuesday flagged off an awareness vehicle under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign. This initiative aims to ensure that all eligible citizens are well-informed and empowered to participate in the electoral process, with January 1, 2025, set as the qualifying date for voter registration.
The awareness vehicle, which is equipped with banners, audio messages, and informational materials, will travel across the district to educate the public about the voter registration process, eligibility criteria, and the importance of ensuring their names are on the electoral roll. The vehicle is designed to reach every corner of Kishtwar, including remote and far-flung areas, to maximize public participation.
At the flag-off ceremony, DPEO Rajesh Kumar Shavan stressed the importance of the SVEEP campaign in ensuring no eligible voter is left behind. “With January 1, 2025, as the qualifying date, we urge all eligible citizens to verify their details and register if they haven’t done so already,” he said. The campaign will particularly focus on first-time voters and marginalized communities to ensure inclusivity and full electoral participation.
As part of the initiative, special camps will be organized at each polling booth in the district on November 30 and December 1. These camps will provide a platform for voters to submit claims, objections, and requests for modifications or updates to their electoral details. Village Level Workers (VLWs), Gram Rozgar Sevaks (GRS), and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be available to assist voters during these camps.
The flag-off ceremony was attended by key officials, including Rishi Kumar Sharma (PO ICDS/CEO KDA), Idrees Lone (Dy. DEO/ACR Kishtwar), Dr. Kuldeep Kumar (DIO Kishtwar), and other election staff and officials.
This comprehensive awareness initiative aims to ensure that every eligible citizen in Kishtwar is equipped with the knowledge and tools to participate in the upcoming Panchayat elections, contributing to a more inclusive and transparent electoral process.
