Kashmir, September 6,2025: On the launch of his book, ‘Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan’, Lt Gen KJS Dhillon (Retd.) offered an in-depth account of India’s strategic operations post-independence, culminating in the recent cross-border strikes.
Speaking at the event, Lt Gen Dhillon highlighted that the book covers the buildup to Pulwama and Pahalgam attacks, the differences between the two incidents, and the rationale behind the Pahalgam operation. He elaborated on the meticulous selection of targets, intelligence corroboration, and operational synergy among the three services, the External Affairs Ministry, Home Ministry, and other government departments.
The narrative further details the matching of weapons to targets, the execution of strikes on the intervening night of May 6–7, and Pakistan’s response on May 10, including the ceasefire, outcomes, and the ensuing battle of narratives along the Line of Control (LOC). The book also sheds light on aspects of the operation not covered by the media and discusses future strategic planning.
Lt Gen Dhillon described the work as a comprehensive account aimed at documenting India’s military preparedness, decision-making processes, and the strategic considerations behind cross-border counterterrorism operations.
