Kashmir, November 22,2025-The Indian Army’s Operation Drishti made a significant impact on its third day at Command Hospital, Udhampur, where more than 200 patients from the border districts of Poonch and Rajouri underwent free cataract surgeries. The procedures were conducted by leading ophthalmology specialists from Northern Command and Army Hospital, New Delhi.
The large-scale medical intervention, held under the umbrella of Operation Sadbhavna, aims to deliver advanced eye care to underserved and remote communities in Jammu and Kashmir. Many of the beneficiaries were elderly residents who had limited access to specialised treatment in their home villages.
Launched by Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, the four-day eye care camp includes comprehensive screenings, surgeries and follow-up consultations, supported by state-of-the-art medical technology. Officials noted that the initiative reflects the Army’s continued commitment to improving healthcare access and strengthening its bond with local communities along the border.
The camp will continue until November 22, with more patients expected to receive life-changing eye treatment in the coming days.
