One month skill training workshop for Women hosted at Bhaderwah

DODA, JANUARY 9: Department of Handicrafts and Handloom has organised a month-long skill training workshop for women in Bhaderwah, focusing on the creation of handicrafts from waste products.
Launched on December 4, 2023 by District Development Commissioner Harvinder Singh the workshop has witnessed the participation of around 80 artisans registered with the Handicrafts Department.
Accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Dil Mir Choudhary, CEO BDA Bhaderwah Bal Krishan, and other officials, DC Doda commended the hard work of artisans Aniza Mushtaq and Tarab Baba. He applauded women entrepreneurs for their dedication in training artisans to create handmade products from waste materials. DC Doda interacted with participants, inspected live demonstrations, and motivated budding artisans to produce beautiful items for an upcoming winter festival auction.
During the workshop, DC Doda assured the artisans of every possible support from the district administration to enhance manufacturing and exports. He highlighted the vital role of the Handicrafts and Handloom sector in generating employment in Jammu Division. The department, under his leadership, aims to provide skill training to unemployed youth in various crafts through training centers, fostering entrepreneurial growth from production to export stages.
Meanwhile, the DC has instructed ADC Bhaderwah to put up stalls of locally made handicraft products in Guldanda to attract sales from tourists. This initiative aims to showcase and promote the locally craft, contributing to tourism and economic growth in the region.
