SRINAGAR, May 3, 2025 – Prof. Mohammad Ashraf Ganie, Director of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences , visited the Skill Development Centre at SKIMS Soura to evaluate ongoing training programmes and advocate for mandatory life-saving skills training for all employees. He also announced plans to establish an advanced simulation lab at the SDC to enhance medical training and healthcare delivery in Jammu and Kashmir.
The SDC serves as a critical hub for imparting Basic Life Support and First Aid training to healthcare professionals and volunteers. Prof. Ganie emphasised that equipping every SKIMS employee with life-saving techniques is vital for emergency preparedness and improving patient care outcomes. He highlighted the centre’s role in fostering skill development and aligning with international healthcare standards.
The planned simulation lab will feature cutting-edge mannequins and virtual training modules, offering hands-on practice in critical care, emergency response, and surgical procedures. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical expertise, positioning SKIMS as a pioneer in medical education and healthcare innovation in the region.
During the visit, Prof. Ganie interacted with SDC faculty and trainees, praising their commitment to continuous learning.
