The District Employment and Counselling Centre, Kulgam held a Rozgar Mela to help the educated unemployed youth meet opportunities. Its key aspects were online registration on employment portal/NCS portal. Career counselling for educated unemployed youth, self-employment opportunities, and on-spot placement by private agencies. Dr Bilal Mohi-ud-din Bhat, DC Kulgam said, we give a platform via job fair where the job provider companies and job seekers come together and match their requirements. Nineteen private companies participated in the job fair and around 300 vacancies were available. The DC urged the youth of Kulgam to participate in such Rozgar Melas where they stand a chance of getting on-spot jobs. The government is trying to bridge the gap between job seekers and job providers. The youth are happy that they have got such a platform and they do not have to run around for jobs. The recruiters are also happy that they can get local talent readily available at a platform. The self-employment scheme creates jobs for people who in turn create multiple jobs for several people when they establish a self-employment unit. The job fair will help decrease unemployment. The DC said that people are made aware about private jobs apart from government jobs which also gives good scope.
