Awantipora, November 10,2025: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated the newly constructed Veshav Girls Hostel at the Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora, marking another step toward strengthening infrastructure and promoting women’s education in Jammu and Kashmir.
The hostel, equipped with modern facilities, aims to provide a safe and comfortable residential environment for female students pursuing higher education at the university. The newly built accommodation is designed to meet the growing demand for student housing, ensuring that more young women from across the region can access quality education without facing logistical barriers.
Speaking at the inaugural event, Omar Abdullah emphasised the government’s commitment to empowering women through education and ensuring equal opportunities in academic institutions. He lauded IUST for its efforts in expanding educational access and creating a conducive environment for holistic learning.
University officials expressed gratitude for the Chief Minister’s support and reiterated their dedication to nurturing academic excellence and student welfare.
