On April 15, 2025- Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated the Ruma Reshi Bridge over Nallah Rumshi in Rahmoo, Pulwama, marking a significant step toward improved connectivity between Pulwama and Budgam districts. The bridge, a long-delayed project completed after years of setbacks since the 2014 floods, restores a crucial link for numerous villages, earning praise from local communities for the administration’s efforts.
Located just kilometers from Pulwama town, the bridge benefits rural areas like Pakharpora and Charar-i-Sharief by easing access to markets, schools, and healthcare. It supports the region’s agricultural backbone, particularly apple farmers, by streamlining transportation. Constructed under the Jhelum and Tawi Flood Recovery Project, the bridge reflects collaborative efforts from engineers, labourers, and residents, as noted by the Rahmoo Public Interest group.
The inauguration highlights the government’s focus on rebuilding infrastructure to foster economic and social integration across Kashmir’s districts. Locals, while celebrating the milestone, called for ongoing road improvements to maximise the bridge’s impact. The event also holds cultural significance, with the bridge’s proximity to religious sites expected to aid pilgrims, reinforcing its role as a community lifeline.
