Jammu, April 15, 2025 – The offline registration process for the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025 has officially commenced in Jammu and Kashmir, marking a significant step for devotees planning to undertake the sacred pilgrimage to the Amarnath Cave. The annual yatra, one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimages, is set to begin on July 3 and conclude on August 9, 2025, drawing thousands of pilgrims to the holy cave shrine located at 3,880 meters in the South Kashmir Himalayas.
The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board has established multiple offline registration centers across Jammu and Kashmir to facilitate a smooth process for pilgrims. Key centres include Vaishnavi Dham, Panchayat Bhawan, and Mahajan Hall in Jammu, where devotees can obtain token slips and complete their registration. Pilgrims are required to collect a token slip three days prior to their chosen yatra date and visit an RFID card centre on the same day to finalise the process with a mandatory RFID card, essential for tracking and safety during the high-altitude trek.
To register offline, pilgrims must submit a Compulsory Health Certificate issued by an SASB-authorised medical body, verifying their fitness for the challenging journey. Additional requirements include valid photo ID proof and photographs. The registration fee is set at Rs 220 per pilgrim, with a daily cap of approximately 15,000 participants to ensure manageable crowd control and safety. Offline registration is also available at designated bank branches, including Jammu & Kashmir Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, and YES Bank across major cities in India.
The Amarnath Yatra, dedicated to Lord Shiva, attracts devotees seeking spiritual fulfillment through the darshan of the naturally formed ice lingam in the cave. The pilgrimage will commence via two routes: the traditional 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag and the shorter but steeper 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal. Pilgrims are advised to prepare physically for the trek, with recommendations for brisk walking, jogging, and breathing exercises at least a month in advance.
Security arrangements have been bolstered, with Jammu and Kashmir authorities emphasizing multi-tier safety measures following recent reviews by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Enhanced lodging, medical facilities, and disaster management plans are also in place to support the expected influx of pilgrims.
For those preferring digital convenience, online registration is available through the official SASB website, jksasb.nic.in, where pilgrims can upload documents, pay fees, and download their Yatra Permit. However, offline registration remains a vital option for many, ensuring accessibility for all devotees.
Pilgrims are urged to register early to avoid last-minute rushes, with age restrictions prohibiting participation for those under 13, over 70, or pregnant women beyond six weeks. The SASB encourages devotees to carry original IDs and CHCs during the yatra and to plan travel logistics, with Jammu Tawi Railway Station serving as the nearest railhead.
The Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025 promises a spiritually enriching experience, blending devotion, endurance, and faith against the serene backdrop of the Himalayas. For detailed guidelines and updates, visit jksasb.nic.in.
