Srinagar, July 28 — In a major boost to scientific research and academic excellence in Jammu & Kashmir, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar has been awarded a prestigious research grant under the ₹2.3 crore ANRF-PAIR scheme (Category B).
The project, sanctioned by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), is part of a collaborative effort with IIT Kanpur, the designated hub institution. The grant will fund cutting-edge research in applied sciences and interdisciplinary innovation, reaffirming NIT Srinagar’s rising profile in the national research landscape.
“This is more than just funding — it’s recognition of the hard work, innovation, and vision of our faculty and students. We are proud to be part of a project that will contribute meaningfully to the nation’s research ecosystem,” said a senior professor from NIT Srinagar.
The ANRF-PAIR (Partnerships for Academic and Industrial Research) scheme, introduced under the new National Research Foundation (NRF) framework, is designed to foster collaboration between premier institutions to address national scientific challenges.
Under this grant, NIT Srinagar will lead specific research components, engaging PhD scholars, post-doctoral fellows, and industry partners, creating a strong bridge between academia and real-world application.
This marks a significant milestone not just for the institute, but for J&K’s higher education sector, signalling its growing contribution to India’s knowledge economy and innovation ecosystem.
