National review meeting held in Srinagar for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025

Srinagar, April 06, 2025 – The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare , in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Health Department, conducted a national review meeting in Srinagar to prepare for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025. The meeting, chaired by Dr. Abid Rashid Shah, Secretary of Health and Medical Education , brought together representatives from various states and premier health institutions, including AIIMS, PGIMER, JIPMER, and Government Medical Colleges , to ensure comprehensive healthcare arrangements for the annual pilgrimage.

The discussions centered on key priorities, including streamlining the health certification process for pilgrims, enhancing Emergency Medical Response (EMR) systems, and ensuring the deployment of medical specialists along the yatra route. Emphasis was placed on improving coordination between state health departments and central institutions to provide robust healthcare services to the thousands of devotees expected to undertake the arduous journey.

A significant highlight of the meeting was the release of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra Booklet, a comprehensive guide designed to assist pilgrims and healthcare providers. Additionally, appreciation certificates were distributed to recognize the efforts of individuals and organizations contributing to the yatra’s medical preparedness.

Dr. Abid Rashid Shah underscored the importance of meticulous planning and inter-agency collaboration to safeguard the health and well-being of pilgrims. “Our goal is to ensure a seamless and safe experience for every devotee, with a healthcare system that is both proactive and responsive,” he stated.

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, one of India’s most revered pilgrimages, attracts lakhs of devotees annually to the holy cave shrine in the Himalayas. With the 2025 edition approaching, this meeting marks a critical step toward strengthening medical infrastructure and emergency preparedness for the challenging terrain and high-altitude conditions.
