Nagrota, November 12,2025: The Nagrota Assembly constituency witnessed an enthusiastic voter turnout in the ongoing by-elections, with elderly citizens turning up in large numbers and the youth expressing hopes for better job opportunities and accountable governance.
From the early hours of polling, senior citizens were seen queuing up outside polling stations, many describing voting as both a right and responsibility. “We have seen many elections, but each vote matters for a peaceful and developed future,” said Girdhari Lal, a 72-year-old voter from the constituency.
While older voters stressed the importance of stability and continuity, young voters highlighted the need for employment generation, education reforms, and performance-based politics. “Our vote is for those who can deliver on promises, not just make speeches,” said a first-time voter, Muskan Sharma.
District Election authorities reported a smooth and peaceful polling process, with adequate security and arrangements for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Officials lauded the active participation of voters and the vibrant democratic spirit displayed in Nagrota.
Candidates across party lines have focused their campaigns on infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and welfare schemes, reflecting the evolving aspirations of the electorate.
As the polling concluded, the mood in Nagrota was one of optimism — where experience met aspiration, and citizens reaffirmed their faith in the power of the ballot to drive development and change.
