“My Politics Isn’t So Cheap”: Omar Abdullah Shuns J&K Statehood Demand After Pahalgam Tragedy The whole country is getting affected by this attack. This was not the first attack. We have seen many such attacks in Jammu & Kashmir, said the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir Shri Omar Abdullah. We saw attacks on Amarnath pilgrim camp, in Doda village, we saw attacks on Kashmiri Pandit settlements. After 21 years, such a big civilian attack has happened in Baisaran. We felt that this was the story of our past, not the story of our present. This situation was created in Baisaran, now we wonder where the next attack will be. I did not have the words, what should I say to apologize to their family. As the Chief Minister and Tourism Minister, I had invited them to come to Kashmir. Being the host, it was my responsibility to send them back safely from here. What should I say, I had no words to those little children who saw their father covered in blood. To the widow of that lady officer who had been married for only a few days. None of us are with this attack. This attack devastated us from within. But this is the first time in twenty-six years that I have seen people coming out like this after an attack said the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir Shri Omar Abdullah condemning the Pahalgam terror attck on Hindus in the State Legislative Assembly. Fro,m Kathua to Kupwara, there would hardly be any village or city where people did not condemn this incident.Said this didn’t happen in my name. They took out procession made their own banners, slogans and did candle march to show that they were not with this attack. But I will not use this opportunity to talk about statehood. Is my politics so cheap? Do I have so little regard for the death of these twenty-six people? Shame on me if I talk about statehood on this occasion because twenty six people have died, now give us statehood. We have talked about statehood before and we will talk about it in future too, said the CM. On this occasion there is no politics, no business rules, no statehood and nothing else. I would ask for only one thing, strong condemnation of this attack and sympathy from the bottom of my heart for those twenty six people and justice for them, said J&K CM Omar Abdullah in State Legislative Assembly stopping his supporters from thumping the table.
