ANANTNAG, JANUARY 14:The Motor Vehicle Department Anantnag, in collaboration with the State Disaster Response Force , organised a comprehensive Road Safety Awareness Program at the Rasool Mir Auditorium in Dooru. The initiative aimed to enhance life-saving skills and raise awareness about vital road safety measures.
The program saw active participation from drivers, shopkeepers, and members of the general public. It featured hands-on training sessions led by the SDRF team, where participants were educated in essential emergency techniques such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation and Basic Life Support . These life-saving skills are designed to empower individuals to recognize emergencies and offer timely assistance during critical situations.
Addressing the gathering, ARTO Anantnag, Dr. Showkat Bhat, stressed the importance of strict adherence to traffic rules and fostering a culture of good Samaritanism. He urged all road users—be they commercial drivers, private vehicle owners, pedestrians, or passengers—to follow traffic regulations, as it can significantly improve road safety. He further emphasized the importance of offering help during emergencies, noting that timely intervention during the “golden hour” can save lives, and that individuals should not fear legal repercussions when stepping forward to assist those in need.
Dr. Bhat also lauded the role of first responders, referring to them as “angels for the victims” who play a crucial role in saving lives in critical moments.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the initiative, with many calling for similar programs in the future to further promote road safety and community well-being.
