Jammu, November 5,2025:Mission Director HADP/JKCIP Sandeep Kumar inaugurated button mushroom picking at the Demonstration Cum Training Centre (DCTC), Krishi Bhawan Talab Tillo, marking a significant step toward promoting year-round mushroom cultivation and processing in Jammu and Kashmir.
The initiative, launched under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), aims to enhance farmer income and entrepreneurship opportunities by encouraging sustainable mushroom production. As part of the programme, farmers will also receive subsidised compost bags and technical training to ensure increased productivity and profitability.
Speaking on the occasion, Sandeep Kumar said that the project reflects the government’s vision to strengthen agri-based livelihoods and empower farmers with modern technologies. He added that mushroom cultivation has immense potential in J&K due to its favourable climatic conditions and growing market demand.
Officials from the Agriculture Department highlighted that the initiative will also focus on value addition, packaging, and marketing support, ensuring that farmers gain maximum returns from their produce.
