Anantnag, January 12,2026-Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday conducted a comprehensive mock drill at Wanpoh Railway Station in Anantnag district to assess and strengthen emergency preparedness. The exercise was carried out in coordination with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Health Department.
The mock drill aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of inter-agency coordination and response mechanisms in the event of any untoward incident. Key focus areas included evacuation procedures, handling of suspicious activities, crowd management, and medical preparedness.
During the drill, security personnel simulated various emergency scenarios, including the detection of suspicious objects and the swift evacuation of passengers from the station premises. Medical teams from the Health Department demonstrated prompt response by providing first aid and emergency medical assistance, ensuring readiness to deal with potential casualties.
Officials said the exercise was part of heightened security measures being undertaken across the district in view of Republic Day. The drill helped identify operational gaps and reinforced standard operating procedures to ensure the safety and security of the public.
Authorities reiterated that such drills are routinely conducted to enhance preparedness and ensure seamless coordination among security and emergency response agencies.
