Rajouri, May 7,2026- As the nation marks one year of Operation Sindoor, the family of slain officer Raj Kumar Thapa remembered his courage, dedication, and ultimate sacrifice while serving civilians during cross-border shelling in Rajouri.
Raj Kumar Thapa lost his life on May 10 last year while coordinating critical rescue and safety operations amid intense shelling in the border district. According to family members, Thapa chose duty over personal grief, refusing to take leave even after the death of a young relative in the family.
His wife, Meenakshi Kundan Thapa, recalled that despite emotional distress at home, Thapa remained committed to protecting civilians during the tense situation along the border.
“He believed his responsibility towards the people came first. Even during difficult times, he stayed focused on his duty,” she said while remembering the fallen officer.
Family members said Thapa was actively involved in coordinating evacuation and relief efforts to ensure the safety of residents caught in shelling during Operation Sindoor. His dedication and bravery continue to be remembered across Rajouri.
Speaking on the anniversary of his death, Meenakshi Kundan Thapa said that the true burden of conflict is often carried by ordinary families who lose their loved ones in violence and war-like situations.
She urged the government to further strengthen security mechanisms and preventive measures to stop terror incidents like the Pahalgam attack, stressing that stronger security can help avoid future conflict and loss of innocent lives.
The anniversary of Operation Sindoor has prompted tributes across Jammu and Kashmir for security personnel and officials who laid down their lives while safeguarding civilians during periods of heightened tension.
