Srinagar, July 7, 2025 – In a significant boost to the development trajectory of Jammu & Kashmir, the Government of India has approved infrastructure projects worth a staggering ₹10,637 crore, marking a decisive step towards the region’s economic revitalization and connectivity enhancement.
This major investment is expected to transform the infrastructure landscape of the Union Territory, with a focus on improving roadways, power supply, water resources, health, and digital connectivity. The announcement has been met with widespread optimism, with officials and citizens hailing it as a “game-changer” for Kashmir’s future prosperity.
According to official sources, the projects will be executed under various central schemes and initiatives, aiming to accelerate inclusive growth, ensure last-mile delivery of essential services, and strengthen logistics and transport networks across remote and rural areas of the Union Territory.
The approval includes upgrades to national highways and district roads, power transmission and distribution improvements, healthcare infrastructure in underserved districts, and expansion of smart governance systems. Projects will also focus on youth employment, skill development, and the promotion of tourism and trade in the region.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha welcomed the Centre’s decision, stating that these projects represent the government’s unwavering commitment to the holistic development of Jammu & Kashmir. “These initiatives will not only create jobs and business opportunities but also significantly uplift the standard of living for people across the region,” he added.
With implementation set to begin in a phased manner, the approved investments are poised to redefine Kashmir’s socio-economic landscape, laying the foundation for a brighter, stable, and more prosperous future.
