Kashmir, May 17, 2026- Manoj Sinha on Sunday highlighted the deep-rooted historical, cultural and spiritual ties between Purvanchal and Maharashtra while addressing the 9th Maati Awards ceremony held in Mumbai.
Speaking at the event, the Lieutenant Governor said the centuries-old connection between the two regions reflects India’s strong cultural unity and shared spiritual traditions. Referring to Lord Ram’s Vanvas, he said Panchvati in Maharashtra and the sacred shrines of Kashi Vishwanath and Trimbakeshwar continue to symbolize the spiritual bond linking different parts of the country.
He said such traditions have played a vital role in preserving India’s civilizational values and strengthening social harmony across regions.
During his address, Manoj Sinha congratulated the distinguished awardees honoured at the Maati Awards ceremony for their contribution towards preserving culture, traditions and social values. He said individuals and organisations working to keep traditional practices alive are strengthening the national fabric and ensuring that India’s rich heritage is passed on to future generations.
The Lieutenant Governor also stressed the importance of cultural platforms like the Maati Awards in promoting unity, heritage and national integration. He noted that India’s diversity has always been its strength and cultural exchanges between regions continue to enrich the country’s identity.
The event witnessed participation from prominent personalities, cultural activists and members of the Purvanchal community residing in Maharashtra. The ceremony celebrated individuals who have made notable contributions in the fields of art, culture, literature and social service.
