Recognized for his extraordinary contributions over four decades as an actor, director, and producer, Mohanlal has left an indelible mark on Indian cinema with his versatility and unparalleled talent. His illustrious career spans Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi films, earning him widespread acclaim.
The announcement, made on September 20, 2025, highlights Mohanlal’s “unmatched talent and relentless hard work” in setting a “golden standard in Indian film history.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded him as an “epitome of excellence,” noting his role in showcasing Kerala’s rich culture to global audiences. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw praised Mohanlal’s legacy as a beacon of India’s creative spirit, while fellow actor Mammootty hailed him as a “true artist.” Mohanlal, aged 65, is a recipient of two National Film Awards for Best Actor, nine Kerala State Awards, the Padma Shri (2001), and the Padma Bhushan (2019). He joins the ranks of luminaries like Mithun Chakraborty and Adoor Gopalakrishnan as a recipient of this esteemed award.
