Machhal Cultural Festival was held in Machhal in Kupwara, Jammu & Kashmir. We are very fortunate to be here said Security Forces. The kind of air there is here and the kind of beauty there is, whoever lives here is lucky. They thanked the locals of Machhal who cooperated beautifully and that is how the festival could be organised by the Army. There is so much potential in the Machhal area that people from faraway places can come to visit here. The Army, civil administration and the locals are joining hands to promote tourism and homestays. All this is possible only when there is peace in the area. Every resident is responsible for that peace, said the Army officials. Every individual must play their role in bringing in peace for development and progress of the area. Tourism will also increase and prosperity will also come to Machhal then. Every year, the Machhal Mela is held because of the support of the Army. It also organises sports activities like cricket and volleyball tournaments. So from every angle, the Army’s intent is to support the people and to develop their skills. The Army is giving them a good exposure, said residents of Machhal. The district administration, the LG administration and the Army is making a continuous effort to save the children from drugs. They are also trying to promote education in these areas. The locals and school children by participating in these activities get a boost.
