Lt Gen Rajan Sharawat meets J&K LG Manoj Sinha to discuss J&K security scenario

Jammu, April 1, 2025 – Lieutenant General Rajan Sharawat, General Officer Commanding of the Rising Star Corps, met with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha on Tuesday to deliberate on critical aspects of the region’s prevailing security scenario. The meeting, held at the Raj Bhavan in Jammu, underscored the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir amid evolving challenges.

Lt Gen Sharawat, who oversees the strategic Rising Star Corps responsible for security along the International Border and parts of Jammu, Kathua, and Samba districts, was accompanied by Major General Mukesh Bhanwala, GOC of the Tiger Division. The discussions focused on assessing the current security landscape, addressing potential threats, and reinforcing coordination between military and civil authorities.

While specific details of the meeting were not disclosed, official sources indicated that the talks covered operational preparedness, counter-terrorism measures, and the role of security forces in ensuring a stable environment across Jammu and Kashmir. The Rising Star Corps, headquartered in Yol, Himachal Pradesh, plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the region, making such high-level engagements crucial for aligning military strategies with administrative objectives.

Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who has consistently emphasised a zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism, reiterated the administration’s commitment to supporting security forces in their efforts to maintain peace. The meeting comes at a time when Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing both developmental strides—such as the recently launched Free Bus Service for Women—and persistent security concerns that require vigilant oversight.

This interaction highlights the collaborative framework between the military leadership and the J&K administration, aimed at fostering a secure and prosperous region. As of April 1, 2025, the dialogue reflects a proactive approach to addressing the complex security dynamics in Jammu and Kashmir.
