Srinagar, September 18,2025:Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Shri Sunil Sharma, today called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan Srinagar and held detailed discussions on a series of pressing public issues in the aftermath of recent floods and natural calamities.
During the meeting, Shri Sharma highlighted the urgent need to restore road connectivity across Jammu and Kashmir, especially in flood-hit and landslide-affected areas where many villages and towns remain cut off. He emphasised that the disconnection is severely impacting public movement, supply of essentials, and access to healthcare.
The LoP also raised concerns over the power supply and water supply crisis, pointing out that several flood-affected and hilly regions are facing prolonged power cuts and irregular drinking water facilities, causing hardships for local residents.
On the issue of flood relief, Shri Sharma stated that the current financial assistance for damaged houses is inadequate. He urged the government to substantially enhance the support to enable affected families to rebuild homes with dignity.
Another key matter discussed was the postponement of competitive examinations, including the JKPSC Lecturer recruitment and Munsiff examinations. Shri Sharma conveyed that aspirants are unable to prepare or reach examination centres due to floods, connectivity gaps, and internet disruptions. He appealed for rescheduling exams in fairness to the candidates.
The Hon’ble LG Manoj Sinha gave a patient hearing to all the issues and assured that the administration will take them up on priority for timely resolution.
Expressing gratitude, Shri Sunil Sharma said, “As Leader of Opposition, it is my duty to be the voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. I will continue to raise their concerns with sincerity and commitment, ensuring every citizen’s voice is heard and addressed.”
