Lok Sabha Election-2024: DC B’la reviews preparations

BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY 24: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa today convened a meeting of officers to review the arrangements for the smooth conduct of upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in the district.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Amod Nagpure, Additional District Development Commissioner, Syed Qamar Sajad, Superintendent of Police Sopore, Divya D, Deputy District Election Officer, ACD, ARTO, officers from election department and others.
The meeting held a detailed and thorough discussion on various crucial aspects pertaining to the smooth and efficient conduct of the upcoming elections in the district.
During the meeting, the SSP underscored the preparedness of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department, and said that robust arrangements are in place in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Election Commission of India.
These arrangements include the formulation of detailed route maps for carrying Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and polling staff, comprehensive mapping of vulnerable hotspots, and implementation of stringent security measures to safeguard polling teams.
ARTO Baramulla informed the meeting that in accordance with the guidelines stipulated by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the department will deploy 52 and 45-seater buses in plain areas while use 4×4 SUV vehicles to facilitate the movement of staff and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in hilly terrains.
It was also given out that there would be a total of 905 polling stations in the district for which election department has identified 5 Strong Rooms for seamless execution of the electoral process.
The DC directed the AROs to visit the Strong Rooms set across the district to check if proper guidelines of ECI are being adhered to and make sure CCTVs, lighting, exhaust fans etc are in place.
The DC also instructed the concerned departments to ensure proper facilities are in place for the polling parties and security personnel at the polling stations.
