Jammu, January 16: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Choudhary, highlighted the crucial role of local industries in driving employment and boosting the economy of Jammu and Kashmir. During his visit to the Jammu & Kashmir Industries (JKI) showroom at Shaheedi Chowk, he emphasized that the local industrial sector plays an essential role in enhancing the economic landscape of the region.
“The local industrial sector is instrumental in providing employment and fueling economic growth. Our government is fully committed to ensuring its growth through various interventions and industry-friendly schemes,” the Deputy Chief Minister remarked.
During the visit, the Deputy Chief Minister interacted with JKI officials, including Managing Director Vikram Gupta and other senior officers, to review the ongoing efforts to promote local industries. His visit underscored the government’s dedication to fostering indigenous industries and promoting traditional products that hold cultural significance.
Surinder Choudhary toured the showroom, which showcased a variety of products, including renowned mulberry silk and local wool, both integral to the region’s textile heritage. Praising the quality and authenticity of the products, the Deputy Chief Minister lauded JKI’s efforts in preserving traditional craftsmanship, particularly in the production of world-famous Kashmiri mulberry silk.
To further enhance the competitiveness of JKI’s products, Choudhary encouraged the management to focus on rigorous and scientific marketing strategies. He emphasized the need for constant quality and design upgrades to meet national and international market demands.
“We are committed to supporting local industries to strengthen the economy and create sustainable employment opportunities in J&K. The government will provide all necessary assistance to JKI and other local enterprises to ensure their long-term growth and global competitiveness,” the Deputy Chief Minister affirmed.
The visit concluded with Choudhary urging JKI officials to continue promoting local crafts, which are vital for the region’s economic development and employment generation.
