LG Sinha orders seamless arrangements for Muharram and Amarnath Yatra

Srinagar, June 24,2026- Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha has directed all departments and agencies concerned to ensure seamless arrangements for the upcoming Muharram observances and the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, emphasizing coordinated efforts to facilitate devotees and maintain peace, safety, and public convenience.

Chairing a high-level review meeting, the Lieutenant Governor assessed the preparedness of various departments, including administration, police, health, power, public works, transport, and municipal bodies. He stressed the need for efficient inter-departmental coordination to provide uninterrupted services during both significant events.

The Lieutenant Governor instructed officials to make adequate arrangements for drinking water, electricity, sanitation, healthcare facilities, traffic management, and emergency response services. He also called for special attention to be paid to vulnerable areas and key routes to ensure smooth movement of pilgrims and mourners.

Reviewing the preparations for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, LG Sinha directed authorities to ensure robust security measures, proper lodging facilities, medical assistance, and all necessary amenities at base camps and along the pilgrimage route. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to providing a safe and comfortable pilgrimage experience for devotees arriving from across the country.

Regarding Muharram, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized facilitating religious processions and observances while ensuring public safety and maintaining communal harmony. He instructed officials to remain responsive to the needs of the public and address any issues promptly.

The meeting also reviewed contingency plans, disaster management preparedness, and communication systems to ensure swift action in case of emergencies. Officials briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the progress of ongoing arrangements and assured that all preparations would be completed well in time.

LG Sinha urged all stakeholders to work with dedication and coordination to ensure the successful conduct of both Muharram and the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, reflecting the spirit of harmony, faith, and efficient governance in Jammu and Kashmir.
