LG Sinha Launches Atal Tinkering Labs Sarthi: 500 New Innovation Hubs for J&K’s Young Innovators Today is definitely a remarkable and unique day for the Amrit generation of Jammu and Kashmir, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha addressing the launch ceremony of Atal Tinkering Labs Sarthi at University of Kashmir.
The University of Kashmir has been formally entrusted with the responsibility of acting as the charioteer for Atal Tinkering Labs under Atal Innovation Mission. Kashmir University has been given the status of a mentor to the established Atal Tinkering Labs in different schools. In this journey towards the innovation economy, I value mentoring the most, LG stated. Atal Tinkering Labs typically have students from Class 6 to Class 12 and hence, mentoring not only ensures knowledge transfer, guidance, skill development, and capacity building for teachers, but also builds self-confidence in them, enabling them to move forward in the face of challenges and obstacles. And they themselves come forward to empower young innovators. There is another big good news for the Amrit generation of Jammu and Kashmir, LG added.Under the Frontier Region Programme, the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi has sanctioned 500 additional Atal Tinkering Labs to J&K, costing approximately Rs 100 crore. I believe, Atal Labs will play a key role in the future towards inclusive innovation, stated the Lieutenant Governor. These labs will provide ‘Amrit Peedhi’ an opportunity to invent effective solutions to the local problems of the society in areas like agriculture, handicrafts, tourism, disaster management, etc. I am happy that the students of Atal Tinkering Lab are doing a great job of innovation to address the problems and challenges of the local level.
Children from Air Force School Jammu have worked on ground water testing and live sewer project. The children of Bharatiya Vidya Mandir Higher Secondary School, Udhampur have done a great job in creating a landslide alert system. Students of Govt Higher Secondary School Shopian have done excellent work on robotic arm for walnut harvesting and students of Govt Higher Secondary School Amira Kadal have done excellent work on flood prediction system project, LG said. All these innovations are a symbol of the fact that even in small places of Jammu and Kashmir, our children are nurturing big dreams in schools. And Jammu and Kashmir is also ready to play a big role in developed India in the coming days. These labs are not only a means of learning for the youth but are also becoming a powerful medium for new discoveries, self-discovery and development of self-confidence among the youth.Youth is a stage in life when creativity is at its peak. Their consciousness also gains a new edge. This is the time when youth dreams new dreams and also struggles to make them come true. Atal Tinkering Labs is a means to fulfill these dreams. Atal Tinkering Labs is a medium to sharpen the consciousness of students. And in these labs, aspirational India is being nurtured. And in this, the foundation of golden India is also being laid, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha.
