Srinagar, October 7, 2025: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed profound gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the advance release of the 21st instalment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, specifically benefiting farmers in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (J&K UT). This timely financial aid, amounting to approximately Rs 171 crore, will be directly credited to the bank accounts of around 8.55 lakh eligible farmers in J&K today.
The support is designed to bolster farmers’ livelihoods, accelerate recovery efforts, and enable the resumption of agricultural activities amid challenging conditions. Emphasizing the pivotal role of farmers as the backbone of the economy and a foundation for growth in other sectors, LG Sinha highlighted the Government of India’s (GOI) unwavering commitment to providing comprehensive assistance. This includes measures to mitigate the impacts of the worst floods in several decades and ensure stability for the affected population.
The PM-KISAN scheme continues to serve as a vital lifeline for small and marginal farmers across India, offering Rs 6,000 annually in three equal instalments to support input costs like seeds and fertilizers. The advance release for J&K underscores the central government’s proactive response to regional adversities, aligning with broader efforts to empower the agricultural community.
