Srinagar, July 12,2026-Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday called upon the younger generation to preserve and promote India’s rich spiritual, scientific, and cultural heritage while addressing the Lal Ded Literature Awards and the release of Dr. Vaidehi Taman’s new book, “Lal Ded: The Mother of Kashmir.”
Speaking at the event, the Lieutenant Governor urged the awardees and literary community to carry forward the timeless teachings of revered saints and philosophers, including Lal Ded, Kabir, Nund Rishi, Guru Nanak, and Tulsidas, and ensure that their wisdom reaches the youth.
Highlighting India’s civilisational legacy, the Lieutenant Governor said the nation’s ancestors laid the foundation of a strong and resilient society by maintaining a balance between scientific progress and spiritual values. He stressed that true development requires both scientific innovation and spiritual wisdom.
“India’s greatest strength lies in its rich spiritual, scientific, and cultural identity, which has been passed down through generations like a torch. We must ensure that this flame continues to illuminate the path for future generations,” he said.
Calling upon the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to embrace their heritage, the Lieutenant Governor said the time has come to draw inspiration from India’s timeless traditions while fostering innovation and creativity. He emphasised that empowering young minds with purpose and values is essential for building a self-reliant Jammu and Kashmir.
The Lieutenant Governor also underscored that nation-building is a collective responsibility shared by every citizen. He described the youth as the architects of India’s future and encouraged them to set ambitious goals rather than settle for ordinary achievements.
Urging young people to dream big, work hard, and pursue excellence in every field, he said the nation’s progress depends on patience, dedication, and the collective efforts of its citizens.
The event celebrated the literary and spiritual legacy of Lal Ded, one of Kashmir’s most revered mystic poets, while also marking the launch of Dr. Vaidehi Taman’s latest work, “Lal Ded: The Mother of Kashmir,” highlighting her enduring influence on Kashmir’s cultural and spiritual landscape.
