Srinagar, June 22, 2025-On June 21, 2025, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha called on the youth to collectively build a progressive society during the West Bengal Foundation Day celebrations at Raj Bhawan in Srinagar. Commemorating June 20, the event honored West Bengal’s freedom fighters and luminaries who shaped India’s intellectual, spiritual, and political landscape, while reinforcing India’s unity in diversity.
Addressing the gathering virtually, Sinha lauded West Bengal’s contributions to the freedom movement, literature, music, arts, and cinema. He paid tribute to icons like Rabindranath Tagore, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, and Swami Vivekananda, whose legacies continue to inspire. “The youth must carry forward their vision to contribute to Viksit Bharat,” Sinha urged, emphasizing collective responsibility for a progressive society.
The cultural evening, attended by officials, security personnel, and West Bengal community members in Jammu & Kashmir, featured performances that showcased Bengal’s rich heritage. Sinha highlighted the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, which promotes cultural exchange, noting that such events strengthen emotional bonds between Jammu & Kashmir and West Bengal.
West Bengal, a cradle of the Bengal Renaissance, has produced pioneers like Raja Ram Mohan Roy and Satyajit Ray, shaping India’s cultural and intellectual fabric. Sinha stressed that the state’s revolutionary spirit and societal energy remain vital for national progress. He encouraged young people to draw inspiration from these luminaries to drive innovation and inclusivity.
Raj Bhawan’s celebration is part of a series of events under Sinha’s leadership to promote national integration, following recent commemorations like Telangana Formation Day and Goa Day on June 2, 2025. These initiatives reflect Jammu & Kashmir’s commitment to fostering unity and celebrating India’s diverse heritage.
