Srinagar, November 1, 2025: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha addressed the Student Induction Programme “Deeksharambh” at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST)-Kashmir, organised under the theme “Anekta Mein Ekta Diwas” to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
In his keynote address, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized the vital role of agriculture and allied sectors in propellinga India’s growth stoary. “We must sprint ahead in agriculture and allied sectors to fuel India’s growth story. For a developed India, our prime objective should be to achieve a consistent 5% annual growth rate,” LG Sinha said.
Highlighting the importance of modernising agricultural education, the Lieutenant Governor urged institutions to cultivate change in agriculture learning to ensure sustainable practices for the future. “Educational institutions like SKUAST should focus on AI-powered farming, diversification into high-value crops, and strategic planning to boost productivity and the income of farmers,” he added.
Applauding SKUAST-Kashmir for its academic achievements, LG Sinha said the university’s growing reputation has transformed it into a hub of unity and diversity. “The presence of students from every state—from Arunachal to Andhra Pradesh, Kashmir to Kanyakumari—has turned this campus into a ‘Mini India’. This transformation reflects SKUAST’s dedication to inclusive education and excellence,” the LG remarked.
Paying tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Lieutenant Governor said, “You are the inheritors of Sardar Patel’s vision and the ambassadors of unity. Let your education not just be about degrees but about making a difference in the lives of people.”
On the occasion, LG Sinha felicitated social workers and prominent citizens for their contributions to society and visited the Chrysanthemum Garden within the campus. The students’ cultural performances also received special appreciation from the Lieutenant Governor.
