Srinagar, July 26:Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today addressed the North Zone Regional Conference of Legal Services Authorities held in Srinagar, reaffirming the Jammu and Kashmir administration’s commitment to delivering timely and inclusive legal aid to the most vulnerable sections of society.
In his keynote address, LG Sinha announced that three major initiatives have been undertaken in the Union Territory to ensure ease of justice for members of the Armed Forces and the tribal community. These efforts, he said, are aimed at making legal support more accessible, especially to those in remote and underserved regions.
“We in J&K have made three major strides towards facilitating ease of justice to members of Armed Forces and reaffirmed our commitment to ensure legal aid to the tribal community,” LG Sinha stated.
He emphasised the vital role of the State Legal Services Authorities, urging them to guarantee that legal aid reaches army personnel, tribal populations, and other deprived and vulnerable groups without delay. “Their lives must be made easier, and their rights guaranteed by the Constitution must be protected,” he added.
LG Manoj Sinha highlighted the administration’s broader vision of inclusive governance and justice for all, underlining that legal aid in Jammu & Kashmir is not just a service but a fundamental right.
The conference brought together judges, legal experts, government officials, and rights advocates from across the northern states to discuss innovations and challenges in delivering legal services. Participants praised the proactive approach of the Jammu and Kashmir administration in prioritizing access to justice for marginalized communities.
This initiative is seen as a significant step in bridging the legal divide and empowering citizens across the Union Territory, especially those historically excluded from the justice system.
