LG Manoj Sinha to grace grand Tawi Aarti as chief guest on Baisakhi

Jammu, April 13, 2025: The Jammu Municipal Corporation , in collaboration with Jammu Smart City and the Directorate of Tourism, is set to host a grand Tawi Aarti at the scenic Tawi Ghat on the banks of the Suryaputri Tawi Riverfront , coinciding with vibrant Baisakhi celebrations. The event, starting at 6:00 PM, promises a soulful evening of devotion, culture, and unity, with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha as the chief guest.
This inaugural Tawi Aarti at the newly developed Tawi Riverfront Ghat, a Jammu Smart City project, highlights the spiritual and cultural significance of the Tawi River, known as Suryaputri. “The event is open to all, free of cost, and we invite every Jammuite to join this historic celebration,” said JMC Commissioner Devansh Yadav.
The evening begins with a traditional Dangal (wrestling competition) at 4:15 PM, adding festive charm to the Baisakhi Mela. The Tawi Aarti, performed by trained Acharyas under the Raghunath Bazar Vikas Corridor Council, will be accompanied by a stunning laser show, illuminating the riverfront. Arrangements like parking, toilets, and family-friendly spaces ensure a seamless experience.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will inaugurate the festivities, emphasising the event’s cultural importance.
The Tawi Ghat, transformed under the Jammu Smart City initiative, features modern promenades, cycling tracks, and leisure spaces, making it a cultural and tourism hub alongside landmarks like Bahu Fort and Raghunath Bazaar.
