Srinagar, May 7, 2025 – In the wake of Operation Sindoor, a precision strike by the Indian Armed Forces targeting nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 7, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced robust measures to secure J&K’s border districts. The operation, a retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack that killed 26 people, including 25 Indian civilians and one Nepali national, has heightened regional tensions, prompting LG Manoj Sinha to prioritise citizen safety.
LG Manoj Sinha, “Took stock of the situation in border districts of J&K UT with all senior administrative, police & district officials including DCs of all the border districts. I’m closely monitoring the situation & govt is fully prepared to deal with any eventuality. I’ve also directed the DCs for shifting of villagers from vulnerable areas to safer locations and ensuring boarding, lodging, food, medicare and transportation. We will ensure safety of every citizen. Jai Hind!” His directives emphasise relocating residents from high-risk zones and providing comprehensive support, underscoring a commitment to protect J&K’s populace.
Operation Sindoor, announced by the Ministry of Defence at 1:44 AM, targeted terror infrastructure linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen in locations like Bahawalpur, Muridke, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, and Sialkot. The non-escalatory strikes, executed with precision munitions, responded to the Pahalgam attack, which claimed lives including that of Shubham Dwivedi. Aishanya Dwivedi, Shubham’s widow, praised the government’s response, stating, “I am grateful for the action taken. This is the real tribute to my husband. Wherever he is, he will be at peace today.” She also commended LG Manoj Sinha’s efforts to support victims’ families and ensure regional stability.
LG Manoj Sinha’s proactive measures follow his earlier engagement with Pahalgam victims’ families, where he assured stringent action against terrorism. His coordination with district collectors and security officials aims to fortify J&K’s defenses, particularly after Pakistan’s ceasefire violation in Bhimber Gali post-operation, which India countered proportionately. Northern airports, including Srinagar, remain on high alert, reflecting the tense atmosphere.
The operation and LG Manoj Sinha’s response have garnered support across J&K, with residents and leaders praising his focus on safety. Pakistan’s claims of civilian targets being hit were dismissed by India, with LG Sinha reinforcing that the strikes targeted only terror infrastructure. A media briefing on Operation Sindoor is scheduled for 10:00 AM today to provide further clarity.
LG Manoj Sinha’s leadership, through Operation Sindoor’s fallout and his border security initiatives, reflects J&K’s resolve to counter terrorism while safeguarding citizens. For families like the Dwivedis, his actions offer reassurance and a path toward justice.
