LG Manoj Sinha reviews Nasha Mukt J&K campaign preparedness

Jammu, April 9, 2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting in Jammu to review preparedness for the upcoming 100-day intensive campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan aimed at eradicating drug abuse from the Union Territory.

The campaign will be marked by a series of awareness programmes, with the Lieutenant Governor set to flag off a mega padyatra from MA Stadium, Jammu, on April 11, 2026. A similar large-scale launch will also be held in Srinagar during the first week of May.

Emphasising collective action, the Lieutenant Governor called for mass public participation, especially from students and youth, NCC, NSS, Scouts and Guides, volunteers, civil society organisations, political parties and the general public to maximise outreach and awareness.

“The influx of drugs into the UT is part of a larger international conspiracy to jeopardize the future of the youth of Jammu Kashmir. Every section of society must join this fight against the drug menace,” said Manoj Sinha.

He directed officials to intensify drives against drug trafficking networks and reiterated the administration’s policy of ensuring strict action against culprits while safeguarding innocent individuals. He also stressed the need to identify victims of drug abuse and ensure their proper rehabilitation.

The meeting reviewed the series of activities and the department-wise calendar prepared under the campaign, along with implementation strategies for IEC initiatives. The Lieutenant Governor further directed officials to make the campaign a people’s movement by integrating public feedback and encouraging citizens to report cases of drug abuse.
