LG Manoj Sinha reviews arrangements at Pantha Chowk Yatri Niwas, directs round-the-clock care for Amarnath pilgrims

Srinagar, July 2026,2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday visited the Yatra Transit Camp and Yatri Niwas at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar to review the arrangements for pilgrims undertaking the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026. During the visit, he directed officials to ensure that every devotee of Lord Shiva receives round-the-clock care and that no pilgrim faces any inconvenience during the pilgrimage.

Interacting with officials and pilgrims, the Lieutenant Governor assessed the facilities available at the transit camp and emphasized that the administration must provide seamless services from registration to accommodation and food.

“From registration to accommodation and food, no pilgrim should face any inconvenience. It must be our collective responsibility to make their stay in Jammu and Kashmir divine and comfortable,” the Lieutenant Governor told officials.

The Lieutenant Governor reviewed the arrangements made by various departments, including accommodation, sanitation, security, healthcare, drinking water, electricity, firefighting measures, and other essential services aimed at ensuring the comfort and safety of the yatris.

Highlighting the growing enthusiasm for this year’s pilgrimage, the Lieutenant Governor said the first week’s figures indicate a higher number of devotees compared to the corresponding period last year.

“The figures from the past week reveal that this year’s Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra has witnessed a greater number of devotees compared to last year. This surge is not only a blessing for our spiritual heritage but also a positive sign for tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, giving fresh momentum to the local economy,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor also stressed the importance of promoting Jammu and Kashmir’s traditional crafts among visiting pilgrims. He urged officials to showcase the region’s rich handicrafts and handloom products so that devotees from across the country can take home a piece of the Union Territory’s cultural heritage.

“I want that the rich handicrafts and handloom products of Jammu and Kashmir should travel across the country and this unique heritage find a place in every devotee’s home. This will honor our artisans and it will also strengthen the spirit of the One District One Product campaign, weaving together faith, culture and prosperity,” he said.

Appreciating the coordinated efforts of the District Administration, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), Jammu & Kashmir Police, security forces, and all line departments, the Lieutenant Governor called for continued coordination and vigilance to ensure the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.

He directed officials to maintain effective crowd management, ensure a hassle-free registration process, provide timely information to pilgrims, and take strict legal action against individuals involved in fraudulent registration practices.
